2016/2017: now that the end of this schoolyear is approaching, I would like to have a quick lookback at all the great experiences I’ve had this year! From my first solo trip to South-Africa to watching the nordern lights at -40 degrees: it was a great year. Here is my travel throwback off 2016/2017!
South-Africa
Last summer I went to South-africa to do an internship at Wildlife Act for a month. This was seriously the greatest ánd most scary thing I’ve ever done. A 19 year old girl, all alone to Africa, with no idear what was going to happen. First it was scary. Then it became fantastic. And suddenly it was a memory…
Lapland
After Africa, my life looked kind of boring. It was a nice summer holiday with alot of swimming, sailing and chilling, but of course it went way to fast. The university started again, and I had to work very hard (the life of a veterinary medicine student). But, when the Christmas holidays approached, I could let it all go for a week. Cause, on the 31th of December, I went to Lapland with my family in law! All I can say is: it was damn cold, but it was so worth it!
Of course, I can write a whole blogpost about all the adventures I’ve had in that northern country. But, because I really have to study for my last exams, I won’t. I’ve seen one of natures most beautiful things: the norderlights. It was breathtaking, beautiful, romantic, amazing, and so much more!
I was lucky enough to see these lights 3 times in just one week! Yeah, we were some lucky fellows. The last night we went to a really dark place at a lake, and I can tell you, it was cold. It was -40 at the moment, and I thought I would freeze to death. But when I saw the lights, I didn’t want to sit at the fire. I didn’t give a damn about the cold. I hád to watch (of course, a few times I went to the fire because I couldn’t move my fingers anymore). But I can truly say, it was one of the most impressive things I have éver seen (Ps: for more pictures, look at my photoreport of Lapland!)
Italy
And of course, when I came back, life happened. So work, work, work (don’t you think Beyoncé). But, if you know me, you also know that I can’t have a boring life. I always got things planned. So, in April, I went to Italy with my orchestra for 1,5 week. We went to Milan, Parma, Cremona and Bologna. It was awesome and exhausting, but totally worth it. We had some good rehearsals and great concerts. And the rest of the time we were partying, eating or just chilling with a cup of italian coffee!
Travel throwback: Prague
Now, you guys probably think: there is no way she could go on yet another trip. Well, you are wrong. Two weeks later, I went to Prague with a friend. We wanted to go somewhere this summer, but life came in the way, soooo we hád to go in May (whoh that rhymes). It was really nice, we did some lovely city-sightseeing and we even went to an opera in the National Theatre of Prague. I had a great time, but three days is not enough! Sooo, in the future I háve to go back to this yet amazing country! Want to know the best places to be during your citytrip? Read my last blog about Prague!
After I said all this, I want to thank everyone who made my year so special! I’ve seen so much and I want to thank god that I was able to admire so many great places with so many great people! I love you all!
